Tulsa, Oklahoma – Compliance Controls has announced the launch of its new MEC-FI controller. The product is designed to deliver a user-friendly experience not often seen in engine controllers.

The MEC-FI controller is a microprocessor-based AFR control system for fuel-injected, lean burn natural gas engines. It is aimed at the 500-10,000 horsepower range market in gas transmission and gas gathering. It can replace traditional pneumatic or hydraulic control systems, as well as older and outdated non-user friendly electronic controllers.

“This control system provides improved engine performance and fuel efficiency for both slow-speed integral and medium-to-high speed separable fuel-injected engine applications,” said Rick Rohrer, general manager of Compliance Controls.

The MEC-FI controller precisely controls air fuel ratio based on engine variables such as fuel pressure, fuel flow, intake manifold temperature, exhaust temperature and air manifold pressure.  Its position as a user-friendly controller is based on its keypad interface, display screen and flexible 10 point settings.

The MEC-FI controller is configurable through the keypad using a series of menu-driven options. The controller comes with pre-programmed options, but custom programming can also be created. The large LCD screen, featuring four lines of alphanumeric text, displays parameter codes translated into English instead of numbers.

The MEC-FI controller also features control curves of up to 10 operating data points, giving it the flexibility to respond to load changes and temperature swings.

The controller also features MODBUS communication, fuel totalization and a long-lasting hardware design.

“We call the MEC-FI a ‘whatever’ product. It will do whatever you want it to do,” Rohrer said. “It’s the most user-friendly product of its kind on the market”
